June 2025

this was unplanned...

It's not by might or striving. It's by surrender.

Welcome to June!!!

I hope May was kind to you and if it wasn't, I hope you were kind to yourself.

In my last email, I mentioned how April felt like a lot to handle. But guess what? April passed the baton to May, and honestly, May did not disappoint! It came swinging hard, but my God does not wear flip-flops!! He was and still is my anchor in the storm, so I'm steady.

May tried to unravel me, but God said, not today, Satan!!

I had planned to write about something entirely different, but I feel a nudge to share what's been on my heart, the theme of my month with God. Can I be honest with you for a moment?

This past month, I've been learning a lesson in intimacy with God, and no, it didn't come through activity or performance. It came through rest. Not laziness. Not avoidance but resting in His power. In His grace. In His ability to carry me.

I kept being reminded of that verse:

"Now unto Him who is able to keep you from falling…" (Jude 1:24)

That line hits differently when you feel like you're on the verge of slipping.

Here's the thing: yes, we have responsibilities. Yes, we show up, pray, fast, and study the Word, but none of that means anything without the Spirit. It's not by might or striving. It's by surrender. Obey and follow. Simple words. Hard practice.

Especially when the flesh is loud, and that's where the little foxes come in. You know, the ones the Bible talks about in Song of Songs 2:15. The tiny compromises that seem harmless at first but gnaw away at your garden over time.

For me, it might look like:
"It's just one more episode…"
"It's just a scene, not the whole show…"
"It's just one small indulgence…"

But repeated consistently? Those little choices can fog your clarity, dull your discernment, and weigh down your spirit. Before you know it, you're asking: How did I even get here?

So this is your gentle nudge and reminder as it was mine:

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." (Proverbs 4:23)

Friend, guarding your heart takes diligence, not paranoia. Attention, not anxiety. The Holy Spirit helps us, nudging us when something feels off, even when our logic tries to justify it.

As we enter this new month, I'm asking myself (and maybe you can also ask): What are the little foxes I've let in? And what would it look like to rest, not strive, as God helps me set boundaries again?

Thank you for reading my heart today.
As always, I'm rooting for you.
Till next time.
